Moving to Orange County of Southern California three years ago has opened my eyes to a whole new world which just amazes me!  Our neighborhood is the home of so much bounty growing in it.  Everywhere you look there are several varieties of fresh lemons, oranges, clementines, grapefruits, avacados, guava, persimmon – to name just a few! Because of the warm climate, suculents adorn the parks and pathways, including aloe vera plants growing wildly in most people’s backyards.

My own property is full of sprigs of spearmint, lavender, chocolate mint (yes, that actually is a variety of mint whose leaves smell just like chocolate mint), and even sugar cane reaching heights taller than six feet!

It was this bounty of fresh vegetation surrounding me that inspired me to somehow capture the goodness of our California sun, and share it with others, starting with a variety of handmade sugar scrubs.

I capture the natural essence of the citrus fruits by harnessing the essential oils from the freshly picked peels, which are sun-dried to lock in their antioxidant properties.  From that point, the rest of the ingredients are carefully chosen based upon their high vitamin and mineral content and natural goodness that they offer.  Artificial additives are not welcome in our skincare products.

If you’re curious about the spelling of “sonshine” in our logo – no, it’s not a typo!  The Christian faith has played a very important part of my life, and when I marvel at the beauty growing all around me, I know exactly from Whom that richness comes, our Lord Jesus Christ…..thus, “Sonshine Minerals.”
